Governor visits Colfax and announces more manpower for CAL FIRE

Governor Newsom speaking

California Governor Gavin Newsom visited the City of Colfax on Wednesday to inspect the progress of CAL FIRE’s North Fork American River Shaded Fuel Break project. During his visit, Newsom signed an executive order announcing a surge of nearly 400 firefighters to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection in preparation for peak fire season. Learn more


New hotline for complaints about vacation rental guests

Placer County residents can now report nuisances related to short-term rental properties using a new around-the-clock complaint hotline. Learn more


Free back-to-school immunization clinics

Placer County is offering free back-to-school immunization clinics by appointment for children without access to vaccines. Families whose are uninsured or have Medi-Cal can call 530-889-7128 to schedule an appointment for a clinic on Aug. 15 or 22. Appointments are required, as no walk-ins will be allowed. Learn more

​Heritage Trail Museum Tour continues in Dutch Flat

Celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Transcontinental Golden Spike at the Dutch Flat Hotel and Golden Drift Museum this Saturday. Descendants of Central Pacific Railroad founders Theodore D. Judah and Daniel Webster "Doc" Strong will be guests of Dutch Flat during the Placer County Heritage Trail Museums Tour. Read more
