In remembrance of WWII veteran Shigeo Yokote

A moment of silence was held in honor of WWII veteran Shigeo Yokote at Tuesday’s Placer County Board of Supervisors meeting in Auburn. Shigeo passed away on May 19 at the age of 102.  Learn more


Road maintenance scheduled for summer

Nearly 12 miles of county-maintained roads are planned for pavement overlay this summer. The Placer County Board of Supervisors this week approved a $4.7 million contract agreement with Teichert Construction for the work, set to begin in June. Learn more


More than 137 acres in Auburn approved for permanent conservation

Over 137 acres of agricultural land and blue oak woodland are planned for conservation in North Auburn, with the Placer County Board of Supervisors this week approving the use of $205,000 of Placer Legacy open space funds. The funding will contribute to an agricultural conservation easement that will be held by the private nonprofit Placer Land Trust. Read more

2-1-1 information and referral system underway

With Tuesday’s direction from the Board of Supervisors, Placer County will move forward to develop a 2-1-1 information and referral system.
The free online and telephone support service connects community members connecting them with resources ranging from disaster aid to health and human services. Learn more


New trees for Sheridan Elementary School

Sheridan Elementary School has planted 18 new trees on its campus thanks to funding from the Placer County Tree Preservation Fund. These trees will provide much needed shade, for students and community members alike. Read more 


Vote early: June 4 Special General Election

Our Elections Office will be open until 8 p.m. June 4 for the Senate District 1 Special General Election. You can also vote early at the office this Friday and Monday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. and this Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Please visit the Placer County Elections Office webpage for more election and voter information, here.


Senior resource fair June 4 in Roseville

Senior citizens and their loved ones can get help preparing for some of the challenges that come with aging by attending an upcoming senior resource fair. The event will take place June 4 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Maidu Senior Center in Roseville. Learn more
