Vote planned for District 5 supervisor appointment

Board of Supervisors

At their meeting April 9 in Auburn, the Placer County Board of Supervisors is expected to vote to appoint a replacement for former District 5 Supervisor Jennifer Montgomery, who resigned her position in March to accept an appointment by the governor. The board will also consider a proposed fee increase for campsites and campsite reservations at Bear River Campground. View agenda


Placer is California History Section's County of the Month

We are excited to share that Placer County was selected as the California State Library’s California History Section’s County of the Month! Auburn was also named as their City of the Month. In addition to our Museums Division, the California State Library offers a wealth resources about Placer’s rich history. Learn more 


Placer County Civil Service Commission seeks applicants

Applications are now open for a seat on the Placer County Civil Service Commission, which regulates the employment and working conditions of Placer County employees and oversees hiring and promotions. Learn more


Bowman Road closing next week for construction

Starting the week of Monday, April 8, Bowman Road will be closed between Apple Lane and Old Airport Road as construction begins on the Bowman Road Bridges Improvement Project. Both lanes of the road will be closed to traffic until completion, expected next winter. Read more


Free "Wilder Than Wild" film screening

Join the Placer County Fire Safe Alliance partners April 17 at the Colfax Theatre for a free screening of the documentary film "Wilder Than Wild," about the changing nature of California's wildfires. The screening will be followed by a question-and-answer session with local fire and public safety experts. Learn more 


National Walking Day in Placer County

April 3 was National Walking Day and Placer County participated in this annual event to encourage employees and community members to stay fit and healthy. Placer Board of Supervisors Chairman Kirk Uhler is a strong advocate for personal fitness, so the communications office interviewed him to ask what living a healthy, active lifestyle means to him.
