Special election reminder

The special primary election for California's 1st Senate District, which includes part of Placer County, is this coming Tuesday, March 26. Make sure to check your polling location for election day. Or, if you forgot to register, file a conditional ballot at the Placer County Elections Office during business hours, extended hours this weekend 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. or until 8 p.m. on March 26. Learn more 


Saving wildlife

A unique collaboration between Placer County Animal Services and Gold Country Wildlife Rescue is helping save the lives of more wildlife in Placer than ever before. The partnership was honored by the National Association of Counties with a 2018 Achievement Award. Read more

Forest health in the Sierra Nevada

Foster a Paradise kitten

The devastation of the Camp Fire has left the Paradise Animal Shelter overwhelmed with lost and displaced animals. Placer County Animal Services has taken in many Paradise animals for adoption, relying on its partners at Kitten Central to care for neonatal kittens until they reach adoptable age. Volunteers are needed to foster these kittens, and Kittens Central will host training for prospective foster volunteers at the Animal Services Center in Auburn March 23. Learn more
