Emergency alert test set for Jan. 15

On Tuesday, Placer County will join communities throughout the region in a test of the Placer Alert emergency notification system. Placer Alert is the fastest way to be notified by text, phone or email of an emergency affecting your neighborhood, workplace, school or any of the other places you care about. Only those who have signed up for Placer Alert will receive a test message Tuesday, so sign up today if you’d like to participate and to make sure you and your family are prepared for emergencies that could affect you. Sign up


Historic first for Placer County Board of Supervisors

In their first meeting of 2019, the Placer County Board of Supervisors selected District 4 Supervisor Kirk Uhler to serve as board chair for the year. And in a historic first, District 1 Supervisor Bonnie Gore’s election to the board marks the first time two women have served on the board at the same time. Read more


Whole Person Care program receives additional $1 million for housing

The Placer County Board of Supervisors approved a $1 million contribution from Sutter Health Valley Area this week to benefit the county’s Whole Person Care program in 2019. This is the second such investment made by Sutter Health to purchase permanent housing units and rental subsidies for participants in the Whole Person Care program who are grappling with homelessness and are often high users of multiple emergency services. Learn more 


Placer approves new infrastructure

Placer County started the new year with major infrastructure approvals by the Board of Supervisors, including a $45 million project to replace the aging and often-flooded Walerga Road bridge west of Roseville this summer. The county plans to complete more than $60 million of bridge work this summer countywide. Learn more

Placer County to add electric charging stations

Placer County continued its commitment to sustainable energy today by accepting a grant award that could fund new electric vehicle charging stations at several county buildings. If approved, the stations would promote a larger county initiative to address current and future demands for sustainable energy. Learn more


Lake Tahoe tourism master plan grant workshops

Join Placer County and the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association for informational workshops this month to help prospective applicants understand the tourism master plan grant program and application process. Learn more
