Free tree recycling service

Placer County is proud to offer free tree recycling to give your tree a useful life after the holiday. Last year, more than 11,000 Christmas trees were recycled in Placer County. This service is available at several convenient drop-off locations throughout Placer County. Trees can also be chopped up and placed in your green waste can. Learn more 


California Restaurant Month kicks off in Placer County

Lane closure for I-80 / SR 65 Interchange Improvements Project

A friendly reminder that northbound motorists can expect the right-hand lane of state Route 65 between the Interstate 80 junction and the north end of the SR-65 viaduct as well as the connector ramp, to be closed from 10 p.m. this Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday for concrete work. For current information on roadwork, delays, road conditions and emergency closures, you can call the voice-activated Caltrans Highway Information Network (CHIN) at 1-800-427-7623 (ROAD) or visit Caltrans’ “QuickMap” website here.

The Placer County Department of Public Works will be hosting a series of workshops starting Jan. 9 intended to engage residents and business owners on desired improvements related to transportation programs and systems in Granite Bay. Learn more


Homeless point-in-time count set for Jan. 24

The Homeless Resource Council of the Sierras has announced that Placer County’s annual point-in-time count of homeless individuals will take place Jan. 24. Learn more
