Rabies contact at Mineral Bar Campground

California State Parks and the California Department of Public Health are advising visitors to Auburn State Recreation Area to seek immediate medical attention if they encountered a rabid bat earlier this month at Mineral Bar Campground. Placer County health officials notified the state agencies that a visitor to the Mineral Bar Campground found a bat and allowed other visitors, including children, to touch the animal. Immediate medical treatment is recommended for anyone who had physical contact with the bat between Aug. 1 and Aug. 3. Read more 


Wet year causes drop in ag crops and products

Record-setting rainfall in 2017 led to a sharp reduction in Placer County’s planted rice acreage, driving an 11 percent loss of total crop value. But there is good news to share as farmers and ranchers saw big gains in cattle and calves, timber, nursery stock, mandarin crops, hay, grains and more. Read the report


Enforcing cannabis regulations

Commercial cannabis is still prohibited in Placer County, but some changes approved by our Board of Supervisors this week could lead to some new enforcement protocols for our cannabis ordinance. Read more 


Tri County Job Fair

Employers from various industries across Placer, El Dorado and Sacramento counties will be represented at the annual Tri County Job Fair in Rancho Cordova on Thursday, Aug. 23. Job seekers from all backgrounds are invited to attend, but due to limited space, registration is required. Learn more 


Gold Rush Museum grand re-opening

Come celebrate the Gold Rush Museum grand re-opening Aug. 17 from 4 to 6 p.m. in Auburn. The newly-updated museum features new exhibits such as a ghost town experience, giant photo exhibit with Gold Rush-era props and much more. Learn more
