New flood maps for Placer County

Flood insurance premiums will change for some Placer County residents as FEMA prepares to release new flood maps throughout the county. Affected residents have been notified by mail, but all are encouraged to attend a public meeting in Roseville on Aug. 7. Learn more

Achievable housing could be coming to North Lake Tahoe

An 11-acre plot near Tahoe City could become home to a new achievable housing development with the county Board of Supervisors this week approving the terms of a $3.6 million deal to buy the land. Learn more


Sustainable transportation improvements

A $600,000 grant from state gas tax revenues will help Placer County plan sustainable transportation improvements for the “Resort Triangle” area of North Lake Tahoe, county staff announced this week. Learn More


Heritage Trail Museums Tour returns to Donner Summit, Colfax and Dutch Flat

Escape the heat this Saturday and head for the mountains as the Heritage Trail Museums Tour continues. Visit the Colfax Area Heritage Museum, the Golden Drift Museum in Dutch Flat and the Donner Summit Historical Society Museum for free on July 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Learn more
