Temporary target shooting limitations due to fire danger

The U.S. Bureau of Land Management is increasing fire restrictions and setting temporary target shooting limitations for BLM-managed lands due to high fire danger in Placer County and other surrounding areas of the Sierra Nevada foothills. Learn more


‘On-demand’ mass transit for Placer resorts

A new, on-demand system of public transit may be coming to Olympic Valley and Alpine Meadows to serve visitors and residents alike, with the Placer County Board of Supervisors this week providing preliminary approval for the locally-funded effort. Read more


Foresthill Fire Protection District special election set for Sept. 18

Foresthill voters will decide their level of fire and emergency medical service in a special mail ballot election on Sept. 18. The Placer County Board of Supervisors this week approved a resolution that will put a measure on a special election ballot for an increase in parcel tax rates for the area. Read more


Heritage Trail Museums Tour returns to Auburn

This Saturday, July 14, three Auburn museums will offer free admission as a part of the summer-long Heritage Trail Museums Tour. The Placer County Museum, Gold Country Medical History Museum and the Joss House Museum and Chinese History Center will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Learn more
