$796.5 million draft budget approved by Placer supervisors

Placer County has approved a $796.5 million draft budget for the new fiscal year starting July 1, positioning the county to reinvest in our library system, address rising pension and benefits costs, focus on homelessness and affordable housing and advance key initiatives such as the Sunset Area Plan and Placer Parkway. Placer County approves more funding for the Martis Valley Trail

The Martis Valley Trail is one step closer to completion thanks to funding approved Tuesday by the county board of supervisors. Once complete, this 9-mile multipurpose trail will connect Northstar Village to Truckee and, ultimately, Lake Tahoe. Read more


Good news and bad news for state Route 65 widening

The Placer County Transportation Planning Agency is nearing a major milestone by wrapping up its environmental study for the widening of state Route 65. But while that helps move the project forward, as they write in a recent blog post, the project remains unfunded so when it can be built is still an unanswered question. Read more


Placer programs make list of “100 Brilliant Ideas”

The National Association of Counties has identified two Placer County programs among its 100 “Brilliant Ideas at Work,” a new initiative to recognize visionary county leadership that has improved quality of life. An animal services program that saves vulnerable kittens and feral cats, along with a program called Health360 offering physical and wellness activities for patients with severe mental illness, were honored. Placer County awarded nearly $1 million grant to support rehabilitation programs for young adults

The California Board of State and Community Corrections will grant $990,000 to Placer County to fund rehabilitative programs for young adults aged 18-32. Learn more
