Board approves extension of North Auburn temporary homeless shelter for up to five years

The Placer County Board of Supervisors voted this week to approve a conditional use permit to allow an emergency homeless shelter in North Auburn for a maximum five year term as the county continues to explore alternative options for a permanent site. The board also authorized the execution of new services and site access contracts with Volunteers of America to operate the shelter for another year. Learn more

New reservation system coming for Placer parks

Soon you’ll be able to reserve a picnic area, campsite, sports field or parking space at some of the more popular county parks like Hidden Falls Regional Park and the Bear River Campground. With approval by the board of supervisors May 9, the system is expected to go live in the fall. Learn more


Placer Supervisors approve Barton Ranch project in Granite Bay

Placer County supervisors on Tuesday approved the Barton Ranch development project in Granite Bay. The 10-acre project includes 10 single-family homes and two open space areas along Barton Road.  Read more


Placer County planner named public servant of the year

Crystal Jacobsen, a principal planner for Placer County, was given the public servant of the year award at the 63rd North Lake Tahoe Chamber Awards for her work on the Tahoe Basin Area Plan. Read more
