Housing demand in North Lake Tahoe continues to far outweigh the supply - forcing people to commute, which is bad for traffic, for the environment and for quality of life. Placer County continues to work on ways to increase the supply of workforce housing in the region, but remedying the situation remains a complicated issue. Read more

Main Street program shows economic promise; workshop tomorrow

There are so many charming downtown areas in Placer County and our Economic Development Board is partnering with the National Main Street Center to host a workshop for the Sacramento region tomorrow at 8 a.m. in Roseville, focusing on tips, tools, and resources to help promote business, development, innovation and entrepreneurship in our respective downtowns. Free hazardous waste drop-off, Oct. 29-30

The Western Placer Waste Management Authority is hosting its free hazardous waste drop-off at the Gold Country Fairgrounds Oct. 29 and 30. Acceptable items include paint, cleaners, oil filters and auto fluids, batteries, aerosol cans, pesticides, medications, compressed gas cylinders, electronics and most products labeled danger, caution, warning, flammable, or poison.  Click here to learn more.
