Placer debuts new community welcome signs

Placer County's unincorporated areas have just as much community pride as their town and city neighbors and now they have a new way to show it. Starting with six signs in Bowman and five in North Auburn, Placer County debuted a new welcome sign program Aug. 1 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony held in Bowman. Read more

Placer and Nevada Counties receive statewide honor for joint effort to end opioid abuse

Placer and Nevada County have received a statewide honor for their joint communications campaign to end opioid abuse. Opioid abuse, overdoses and deaths are a growing concern in both counties. Changes planned for 916 area code

916 area code map

The 916 area code is running out of prefix numbers, so a new area code may be coming to the Sacramento region in 2018. The California Public Utilities Commission will hold a public meeting about the planned changes in Roseville Aug. 16. More information
