 Facing a spring surplus of rescue pets, Placer County’s Auburn
animal shelter will lower adoption fees through April 9. Dog adoptions -
normally $118 plus a $20 licensing fee - are just $20 (plus the
licensing fee). Cat adoption fees are reduced from $98 to $15 (no

 Measles has been confirmed in an unvaccinated student in
neighboring Nevada County. While there are no confirmed measles cases in
Placer County at this time, the possibility of exposure is there and

Two members of Placer County
4-H have been honored for their exemplary volunteer service with a President’s
Volunteer Service Award.
The award, which recognizes
Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to
serve their communities and their country, was granted by The Prudential Spirit
of Community Awards program on behalf of President Barack Obama. Read more

 It's not April Fools' but the invigorated first Friday of
April for the Auburn Art Walk, running from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. The Auburn Art Walk is a free reception to showcase local artists who display their work in participating businesses. Learn more at PlacerArts.org.

 In
response to the concerns raised by the other supervisors and members of the
public, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office and District 5 Supervisor Jennifer
Montgomery worked to review existing law and ascertained that law enforcement
currently has adequate laws and regulations to enforce on public intoxication. Read more
