Peninsula Clean Energy signs its first geothermal power agreement
How can we reach our goal of providing renewable energy around the clock? Geothermal energy is one piece of the puzzle. Unlike other renewable energy sources, geothermal energy operates every hour of the day.
That is why we are excited to announce that we will receive 35 MW of local geothermal power from the world’s largest geothermal complex, The Geysers, starting in July 2022! That is enough to power 60,000 households.
There has never been a better time to buy an electric vehicle
You may have heard a lot of buzz about electric vehicles (EVs) recently. Perhaps you are noticing EVs on the road or more EV chargers near you. Why are people going electric now?
EVs are critical to accomplishing our climate goals and they make sense financially. According to Consumer Reports, total ownership cost over the life of most EVs is less than gas cars resulting in savings of up to $10,000.
To make EVs more affordable, we recently expanded our Used EV Rebate Program to offer rebates to all San Mateo County residents, regardless of income level. The time to go electric is now!
*Residents must apply prior to purchase to be eligible for the rebate.
Outreach grants of up to $40,000 available for nonprofits
We have funds available for nonprofits in San Mateo County or the City of Los Banos for outreach to residents about clean energy and related programs.
Grant receipients could expect to engage residents about topics such as rebates for electric vehicles, incentives for all-electric appliances, ways residents can save on their energy bill, and more.
Grant applications are due October 15, 2021.
