Engaging schools in clean energy
Peninsula Clean Energy Board of Directors approved $205,000 last Thursday to continue a partnership with the County of San Mateo Office of Education - $160,000 for a clean energy teacher fellowship and $45,000 for an administrator fellowship.
Since 2019, Peninsula Clean Energy has provided $182,500 of funding to the San Mateo County Office of Education for the San Mateo Environmental Learning Collaborative (SMELC) Fellowship programs. The SMELC program offers a suite of paid professional development fellowships programs for San Mateo County teachers and school administrators.
To date, through the SMELC program, Peninsula Clean Energy has reached 49 teachers, 10 administrators, and more than 1,665 students to expand clean energy awareness.

Expanding service to Los Banos

By officially joining with Peninsula Clean Energy, Los Banos homes and businesses will take advantage of electricity rates that are lower than PG&E’s. Los Banos residents will also start receiving power from solar power generated by the 200-megawatt Wright Solar Project, which is located just outside the city’s boundaries and generates power exclusively for Peninsula Clean Energy customers.
