Cynthia Session brought the heat when she threw out the ceremonial first pitch for ONE-PS before the Palm Springs Power baseball game on Friday, June 5. The ONE-PS board member and President of the Desert Highland Gateway Estates Community Action Association Committee confidently strode to the mound, toed the rubber, and delivered a fastball straight to home plate. The pitch was so hot the catcher had trouble handling it.
The LGBTQ Community Center of the Desert has been providing assistance to residents-in-need since 2008 through its Community Food Bank. In 2025, The Center was providing food to 260 - 280 households, but that number has ballooned to around 575 households in 2026. While donations to food banks generally drop off in the summer, The Center and ONE-PS are making plans to accelerate the giving cycle by launching the ONE-PS Community Food Drive Challenge. Between July 1 and the Sept. 8 ONE-PS monthly meeting, we are challenging neighborhoods to collect food donations and compete for the Heart of the Community Award, The Center’s Community Food Bank Silver Bowl, and the Neighborhood Spirit Award for the Most Creative Campaign. More details to come!

The City of Palm Springs is planning a major renovation and expansion of the Palm Springs Convention Center, along with improvements to better connect the facility to downtown. The goal is to create a vibrant Convention Center Connector District that serves as a welcoming gateway for visitors while enhancing community spaces for residents.
We invite you to share your thoughts through this survey. Your feedback will help guide the vision for this important project and ensure it reflects the needs and priorities of our community. Thank you for participating!
Construction for the new traffic signal at Indian Canyon Drive and Via Escuela will resume beginning Wednesday, June 17.
Initial work will be limited to project signage and utility markings. Construction activity will increase beginning the week of June 22, when underground utility potholing operations are scheduled to begin.
Traffic control will be implemented as needed. While motorists should expect occasional lane closures and minor delays, at least one lane in each direction will remain open at all times and no full roadway closures are anticipated.
This project was identified through the City's Local Road Safety Plan and community feedback and will improve safety for motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists at this intersection.
Construction is currently estimated to be completed in September 2026.
Thank you for your patience as we work to improve safety for all roadway users.
Desert Water Agency (DWA) introduced a redesigned website in May, with upgrades focused on customer service, accessibility and the mobile experience.
The revamped website is the result of a nearly year-long modernization effort aimed at improving customer experience and making information easier to access for the communities DWA serves. The new website features:
- Improved accessibility features to better serve all users, including enhanced ADA compliance
- A mobile-friendly experience optimized for smartphones and tablets
- Streamlined navigation and improved organization of information
- A modern design aligned with DWA’s recent brand refresh launched in 2025
- Easier access to customer resources, conservation programs, news and agency updates
While the website is new, the URL remains the same. Learn more and check out the refreshed website at www.dwa.org.
The Coachella Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District will conduct several mosquito control operations throughout the coming weeks as part of its ongoing efforts to reduce mosquito populations and protect residents from mosquito-borne diseases. While these activities are occurring within the same timeframe, each operation serves a distinct purpose and is based on different scientific and operational needs.

The Ramon Road Bridge over the Whitewater River is being improved to better serve the communities of Palm Springs and Cathedral City. This project will widen the existing bridge from four lanes to six lanes, providing three lanes in each direction, to enhance traffic flow and reduce congestion along this key corridor. Improvements will extend along Ramon Road from San Luis Rey Drive to Landau Boulevard, creating a safer, more efficient, and more accessible route for all commuters.
