Come celebrate the City of Morgan Hill’s FIRST all-electric fire station! The Butterfield Fire Station, partially funded by a Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) Community Grant, is opening its bays on June 7 to welcome you to a ribbon-cutting and pet adoption event.
We’ll be joined by Santa Clara County Animal Services and the Friends of San Martin Animal Society. Firefighters respond to all kinds of emergencies, including those involving our furry friends. The start of summer is the best time to refresh yourself on pet emergency preparedness. Stop by any of the adoption booths to learn more about summertime animal care best practices. And while you’re at it, chat with SVCE staff about how electrification can enhance the health of your home for all family members —furry ones too!
The newly constructed all-electric fire station utilizes a battery storage system to capture excess solar energy for use during peak hours, providing reliable backup power. Electric, zero-emission appliances, like the induction stove, keep first responders in a safe and pollution-free atmosphere.
Hear from the Mayor and Fire Chief, enjoy an induction cooking demonstration, coffee truck*, food truck*, lawn games, and a raffle giveaway!
🚒 17285 Butterfield Blvd., Morgan Hill, CA
*Free food and coffee for first 150 attendees.

ExergyTV Features SVCE Multifamily EV Charging Programs
SVCE was the featured guest on Exergy TV, a co-production of Acterra: Action for a Healthy Planet and KMVT Mountain View, which explores sustainability issues across the Bay Area and California.
The episode is part of a series of shows exploring the art and science of existing and future multi-family EV charging and how to get Charging for All. In the 2019 Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Joint Action Plan, SVCE identified access to EV charging for residents of multi-family properties as a priority to increasing access to EVs. Since then, we have deployed programs that offer technical assistance and rebates, as well as supporting innovation pilots that help increase access to charging. Watch the episode to learn more.

Last month, SVCE celebrated a new Battery Energy Storage System with Middle River Power at the Hanford Hybrid Energy Center; a project that supports energy reliability for the grid.
The new storage system will reduce emissions by minimizing the operation time of the legacy gas peaker facility during times of high energy demand, using grid-charged renewable energy instead. The project will provide 280,000 residents and businesses in Santa Clara County with 131.4 megawatt-hours of storage capacity.
In acknowledgment of this approach to decarbonization, Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) and the Hanford Hybrid Center received a Certificate of Congressional Recognition from Congressman David Valadao who represents the district.

What the Youth Have to Say About the Future of Clean Energy
Silicon Valley Youth Climate Action teamed up with Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Stanford Medicine, Dr. Lisa Patel, to discuss the impact of climate change on children's health and how electric alternatives can create a safer, healthier future.
We are always inspired by our local youth who continue to fight for their future through local climate action.
