Your Climate Credit Is Coming
This month, all Californians will receive their California Climate Credit of $55.17. The credit will show on your monthly PG&E bill as “CA Climate Credit” or “California Climate Credit”. Climate Credits are distributed twice a year, in the spring and fall.
You are receiving this credit as part of California’s Cap-and-Trade Program, and no action is required. If you have questions, we encourage you to visit the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) FAQ page.

October is National Energy Awareness Month
This Energy Awareness Month we encourage you to take a closer look at the equipment powering your home and consider electric options that improve your home’s health, safety, and comfort.
Are you aware of the health risks associated with gas-powered appliances that may be in your home?
In the home, natural gas used to heat water and indoor air is responsible for nearly 25% of the pollution in Silicon Valley. Heating and air conditioning are typically the largest energy users in the home. Heat pumps offer both space heating and cooling, and are emissions-free.
In the kitchen, gas-powered stoves generate high levels of harmful indoor pollutants such as carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, and formaldehyde. Recent research shows that “12.7% of current childhood asthma cases in the US are attributable to gas stove use.” Induction cooktops are healthier, safer, and more efficient.
In the driveway, gas-powered vehicles contribute to local carbon emissions and account for 50% of the pollution in Silicon Valley. EVs do not emit harmful pollutants, making for a cleaner, healthier drive.

Happy Heat Pump Water Heater Day
Gas water heaters produce fossil fuel emissions and are very inefficient compared to highly-efficient heat pump water heaters (HPWH). In addition to using less energy, HPWHs also have the benefit of not emitting harmful toxins.
What is a HPWH?
A HPWH is a water heater that uses heat pump technology to pull heat from surrounding air and transfers that heat to water in an enclosed tank. Because the pump transfers heat instead of creating heat through gas combustion, HPWHs are very efficient.
October 23 brings awareness to and celebrates the efficient and clean technology, but rebates for HPWHs are available to SVCE customers year-round!
Learn more about HPWHs by checking out these three FREE HPWH-focused webinars hosted by ElectrifyNow:
-
October 21, 9 a.m.: DIY Heat Pump Water Heater Install: Watch a full HPWH installation live and get professional tips and tricks for making your installation smoother and more successful.
-
October 23, 8 a.m. - 4:30 a.m.: Heat Pump Water Heater Day: An entire day dedicated to heat pump water heater (HPWH) education and awareness. See the full agenda and registration information here.
*Recordings will be available to all registrants via email after the webinars.
