Prepare Yourself for Flex Alerts This Summer
When summer heat and extreme weather events arise, the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) - the organization that manages the electric grid, may issue a Flex Alert. A Flex Alert is a voluntary call for energy conservation and typically occurs in the evening hours when solar production fades and consumers return home and switch on air conditioners, lights, and appliances.
To help prevent energy shortages, sign up to receive Flex Alert notifications directly from CAISO to stay informed about when energy conservation is needed during hot summer days. Additionally, you'll learn valuable tips on how to conserve energy effectively during these critical times.
To receive bill credits for reducing energy use during Flex Alerts, participate in the Power Saver Rewards Program. The Power Saver Rewards Program is a free, voluntary program that rewards participants for temporarily conserving energy when the demand for electricity is high.

Masten Fire Station Resilient Ribbon Cutting
South Santa Clara County! Join your local firefighters on July 10th to celebrate the completion of Masten Fire Station's solar and battery storage project!
This ribbon-cutting event recognizes the completion of the Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) grant-funded project that installed solar panels and a battery backup at the critical facility. The Masten Fire Station project is part of a wave of community buildings in Santa Clara County that have increased resiliency through solar and battery storage. With these upgraded electric technologies, the Masten Fire Station is no longer reliant on polluting diesel standby generators and is equipped to serve the community in times of emergency should power be disrupted to the area.
From 4:30 to 6 p.m., enjoy a short ceremony and a BBQ courtesy of the South Santa Clara County Fire District volunteer firefighters. To commemorate the electric upgrades, SVCE's all-electric F-150 will power an ice cream truck.
For an accurate count of burgers and buns, please kindly RSVP for your party below.
