Get the GridShift: EV Charging App and Earn a $50 Sign-Up Bonus
The SVCE GridShift: EV Charging app is a free mobile app that helps you optimize your electric vehicle (EV) charging at home to use cheaper, cleaner energy on the grid.
Why should I use GridShift?
-
$50 one-time sign-up bonus. When you download the free GridShift app and smart charge your EV, you can earn a one-time $50 bill credit (offer valid through September 30, 2023).
-
Get a cleaner charge. SVCE customers already get clean electricity but when you charge your EV still matters! Charging during peak times and increasing electricity demand can result in a “dirtier” charge because back up power plants come online to support the state-wide demand. Allowing GridShift to automate your charge based on your rate and the amount of renewables on the grid – further reduces state-wide emissions! Plus, if you have solar, the new solar feature can maximize the value of your home energy production.
-
Save $100 or more per year. You can save $100 or more per year by using GridShift to sync to your electricity rate and automatically charge your vehicle when your energy is cheapest.
-
‘Set it and forget it’. Set your ‘ready by’ time, plug your car in and the app takes care of the rest. The smart scheduling feature allows drivers to schedule charging a week in advance.
Compatible vehicles include BMW, Chevrolet (Requires OnStar Diagnostics Subscription): Bolt EUV (2022+), Bolt EV (2017+), Volt (2011-2019), Ford (F-150 Lightning, Mach-E), Tesla, Volkswagen (e-golf only). If you don’t have an eligible vehicle but want to benefit from the GridShift app, you can use our $250 EV Charger Rebate to purchase a compatible EV charger like ChargePoint (internet-connected models) or the SmartenIt ev.energy compatible L1/L2 charger (model #4500).

The Geothermal Project That Is Helping to Power Your Home 24/7
In June, SVCE joined Central Coast Community Energy (3CE) to celebrate the Casa Diablo-IV (CD4) geothermal power plant project developed by Ormat Technologies, Inc. The power plant produces provides stable and reliable renewable benefits 24 hours a day, and powers 22,000 SVCE homes and businesses annually. The electricity provided from the project helps SVCE customers avoid 160,000 tons of carbon emissions each year. Learn more about the project benefits in the video below.

Earlier this year, SVCE opened enrollment in the Electric Home (E-ELEC) Rate, a new rate for customers with a heat pump (water heater or HVAC) and/or an EV that offers lower pricing on electricity consumed between 12 a.m. and 3 p.m. every day. Now, customers with rooftop solar can participate in this rate and benefit from potential savings!
The SVCE E-ELEC Rate offers a super discount - customers who shift electricity consumption to off-peak hours can enjoy up to a 20% discount on their electric generation charges. It's simple - the more you shift, the more you save!
The SVCE Electric Home Rate is a pilot rate and is available to the first 1,000 customers to enroll; the discount is guaranteed through January 1, 2027. Visit our website to see if this rate is right for you.
