Prepare Yourself for Flex Alerts This Summer
When summer heat and extreme weather events arise, the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) - the organization that manages the electric grid, may issue a Flex Alert. A Flex Alert is a voluntary call for energy conservation and typically occurs in the evening hours when solar production fades and consumers return home and switch on air conditioners, lights, and appliances.
To help prevent energy shortages, shifting your energy use to the morning and early afternoon hours can make a significant difference. By signing up to receive Flex Alert notifications directly from CAISO, you'll stay informed about when energy conservation is needed during hot summer days. Additionally, you'll learn valuable tips on how to conserve energy effectively during these critical times.

Customers with a heat pump (water heater or HVAC) and/or an electric vehicle (EV) can now enroll in the SVCE Electric Home (E-ELEC) rate. The rate offers a lower rate on electricity consumed between 12 a.m. and 3 p.m. all year-round. But that's not all – SVCE is taking the E-ELEC rate to the next level by offering a super discount: customers who shift electricity consumption to off-peak hours can enjoy up to a 20% discount on their electric generation charges.
The SVCE Electric Home Rate is a pilot rate and is available to the first 1,000 customers to enroll; the discount is guaranteed through January 1, 2027. Visit our website to see if the E-ELEC rate is right for you.
