Ways to Celebrate Earth Day
On April 22nd, the world celebrates Earth Day, and there are many ways to appreciate the beauty of the natural world around you.
How can you celebrate? You can choose to attend local Earth Day events that are being held in many local communities, or take advantage of our online resources to learn how you can go electric and promote a clean, safe planet for everyone. Earth Day provides an excellent opportunity to get involved in local climate action and make a positive impact. If you are looking to celebrate Earth Day, here are some suggestions:

Visit eHub and learn about how powering your home and vehicle with clean electricity can reduce your carbon footprint.

Check out a DIY Toolkit from your local library and make energy efficiency upgrades throughout your home. Make it a family affair and complete the Home Energy Scavenger Hunt and be entered to win a prize.

You Can Receive Up to $8,000 for Upgrading to Heat Pump Appliances
Upgrading from gas to electric appliances can help reduce emissions. Plus, it creates a safer and more comfortable environment for our families and communities. SVCE customers can receive rebates of up to $8,000 for upgrading a gas water heater and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system with clean, efficient, electric heat pump appliances through the FutureFit Homes Program.
Gas water heaters and furnaces are typically a home’s biggest source of emissions and contribute to poor air quality. Upgrading gas appliances to electric avoids emissions without compromising comfort. Take advantage of the SVCE FutureFit Homes Program and begin your journey to Go Electric.

Spring is here! Consider upgrading your yard care routine this Earth Month with electric yard care equipment. SVCE is offering $50 off electric lawn mowers and leaf blowers through the Appliances Assistant. By upgrading to electric equipment, you are choosing a cleaner, more efficient solution.

Create a Clean Energy-Themed Short Film and Win Up to $3K
Do you know some creative middle or high school students? If so, here’s a fantastic opportunity for them! SVCE is holding its third annual EmPower Silicon Valley Short-Film Competition and inviting eligible students to participate.
Create a short-film centered on clean energy topics such as the importance of switching from fossil fuels to electric appliances, and earn up to $3,000 in scholarships. The submission length should not exceed four minutes, and students can submit music videos, skits, social media shorts, and more. Film submissions will be accepted until Friday, May 19, 2023.
