Be Recognized in the Electric Showcase Awards
If you have recently installed an efficient electric appliance in your home or office, you could win up to $10,000! SVCE is looking to highlight stories from community members that have started to replace gas or old, inefficient electric technology with new, efficient electric technology. Using clean electricity instead of fossil fuels in buildings reduces local air pollution, improves public health and is necessary to fight climate change.
The awards will highlight a variety of journeys – so whether you just installed your first electric appliance, or you have fully removed gas use from your home – consider applying today! In addition to public recognition, residential properties can win up to $6,000, and multi-family or business properties can win up to $10,000.

Upgrade Your Yard Care Routine and Get $50 Off
Going electric has never been easier! Right now, SVCE is offering $50 off electric lawn mowers and leaf blowers through the Appliances Assistant. When you upgrade your traditional gas-powered yard care equipment to electric, you are choosing the cleaner, more efficient solution. Electric leaf blowers and lawn mowers are as powerful as traditional gas-powered yard care equipment, plus they are quieter and emit zero emissions.
In addition to a better user experience, the emissions impact for gas-powered yard care equipment is significant. According to the California Air Resources Board, using a gas-powered lawn mower for one hour is equal to driving a gas car for 300 miles. Using a gas-powered leaf blower for one hour is equal to driving a gas car for 1,100 miles. Upgrade your yard care routine and experience the many benefits of using electric yard care equipment for yourself.
Professional landscapers can receive funding for electric landscape equipment through the California Air Resources Board’s California Clean Off-Road Equipment Voucher Incentive Project (CORE).

Building Code Enhancements Passed to Encourage Healthy, Safe Homes and Businesses
SVCE is recognizing all thirteen of its member communities for taking strong action to reduce emissions in new construction during the 2022 building code cycle. The variety of actions taken by local jurisdictions will have a lasting impact as new homes and buildings are built for a healthier, pollution-free region.
Each jurisdiction adopted “reach codes,” local amendments to the state building code that require varying degrees of electric readiness or all-electric requirements for new construction. Many jurisdictions also adopted an amendment that supports increased accessibility of electric vehicle charging.
As the California grid continues to get cleaner with electricity generated from renewable and carbon-free sources, reducing dependence on fossil fuels in buildings and transportation is crucial to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Planning for the future now with all-electric new construction lowers the up-front building costs and avoids exposure to harmful toxins released by gas-powered appliances.

Your 2022 Clean Energy Accomplishments
In 2016, 13 communities in Santa Clara County formed SVCE to provide clean electricity and support the region as it transitions to a fossil fuel-free future. Since then, SVCE customers have been reducing local emissions and supporting regional and state-wide clean energy goals.
In 2022, SVCE customers saved $90 million in total on-bill savings since launching service in 2017. As a not-for-profit local agency, SVCE has also reinvested $52 million toward customer offers and services. SVCE has committed over $2.1 billion to renewable energy projects including wind, solar, solar+storage and geothermal, supporting the states transition to a clean, reliable grid.
Thank you for your continued commitment to a healthy, clean future for your community.

California Public Utilities Commission Accelerates Climate Credit to Provide Energy Bill Support to Customers
In order to support customers experiencing high natural gas bills this winter, the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) announced that the 2023 Climate Credit will arrive on bills earlier than usual. Customers who receive natural gas service from PG&E will receive a $90.17 credit on their energy bill. Customers who only receive electricity service will receive a $38.39 credit.
Two times per year, residential customers plus qualifying small businesses receive credits on their energy bill called the “California Climate Credit.” The California Climate Credit comes from a state program that requires power plants and other large industries that emit greenhouse gases to buy carbon pollution permits.

Receive Up to $8,000 for Replacing Your Old Appliances
Get pumped for heat pumps! Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) customers can receive up to $8,000 in rebates for replacing a gas water heater and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems with efficient, electric heat pump appliances through the FutureFit Homes Program. Gas water heaters and HVAC units are typically a home’s biggest source of emissions and contribute to poor air quality. Replacing gas appliances with electric avoids emissions without compromising comfort. Take advantage of the SVCE FutureFit Homes Program and begin your journey to Go Electric.
