SVCE Cuts Ribbon on 100 MW Rabbitbrush Solar and Storage Project
Last month, Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) joined Central Coast Community Energy (CCCE) to cut the ribbon on the Rabbitbrush project – a 100 megawatt (MW) solar facility with a 20 MW/50 megawatt hour battery storage system developed by Leeward Renewable Energy in Kern County.
The solar+storage project is expected to produce enough electricity to power about 40,000 homes annually in California, offsetting carbon emissions by approximately 48,000 metric tons each year — the equivalent of removing 10,343 cars from the road.
The battery storage facility provides a reliable and cost-effective means of storing renewable energy that can be used during peak evening hours, increasing grid resiliency, and reducing carbon emissions. Read the press release for more information about the project benefits.

Clean Up Your Kitchen with Induction Cooking
Did you know that emissions from gas ranges can result in unsafe levels of air pollution in our homes? At the same time, gas ranges contribute to climate change by emitting greenhouse gases.
Induction cooktops will cook your food with clean electricity – without added fumes in your kitchen. These cooktops produce heat through magnetic induction, and by doing so they are faster, safer, and more energy efficient than gas stoves or traditional electric-resistance stoves. They lower health risks, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and are easier to clean.
Watch our reel below that shows you how electrifyingly amazing induction cooktops are!
Want to try induction cooking?
Visit the SVCE Appliance Assistant to learn more and purchase your own induction cooktop. Your local city may also have an induction cooktop loaner program so you can borrow a cooktop to try before buying. See Sunnyvale’s induction cooktop loaner program here and PG&E’s induction cooktop loaner program for homes and businesses here.
