Thank You for Conserving Energy During the Heat Wave
Earlier this month the state faced a record-breaking heat wave that affected the entire western United States, causing record demand on California’s energy grid. The California Independent System Operator (CAISO), the organization that manages the state electric grid, issued an extended Flex Alert to call for energy conservation in order to maintain grid reliability. Statewide efforts to conserve electricity and use backup energy helped us avoid mandated blackouts.
However, due to PG&E infrastructure failures, some SVCE customers were affected by outages during the heat event. SVCE is working with the impacted communities to identify how we can support resilience through these extreme climate crises.

SVCE's eHub Recognized for Advancing Clean Energy Education
Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) has received The Green Power Leadership Award for Education from the Center for Resource Solutions (CRS), for its creation of eHub - an online resource that helps inspire and educate the community on the use clean energy, and take action to electrify homes and transportation.
eHub is free of charge and provides SVCE customers with the latest information on electric vehicles, home electrification, and solar and battery storage. Customers can learn about electric and hybrid vehicles, compare costs of ownership for fueling and maintenance, and find available purchase incentives. Customers can also assess the costs and benefits of home solar and battery storage and receive three installation quotes with no obligation to purchase. And an all-electric appliance marketplace provides product information, costs, available rebates, and links to retail providers for purchase.
The Green Power Leadership Awards recognize outstanding leadership in the renewable energy industry by organizations that are driving green power development and adoption. eHub is recognized for its educational impact and reach within SVCE’s member communities. To help bring customers to the eHub site, SVCE has implemented comprehensive email and digital communications strategies resulting in nearly 300,000 customer visits and interactions since launch in fall of 2020.

Are You Considering an Electric Vehicle?
Drive Electric Week (Sept. 23-Oct. 2) is a nationwide celebration to raise awareness of the many benefits of all-electric and plug-in hybrid cars, trucks, motorcycles, and more. Gas vehicles are the largest source of emissions in Silicon Valley, so switching to an all-electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle is a great way to reduce local pollution and save money on gas.
Go on the EV Assistant to browse and compare all-electric, plug-in hybrid and gasoline models to see how much you can save. And while visiting don’t forget to explore the thousands of dollars of available incentives and rebates. Just enter your zip code and income then select the vehicle you’re interested in - EV Assistant will tell you what incentives are available for you.
Ride and Drive Clean Collaboration is hosting several EV and Ebike Shows with owners showcasing their models and sharing their experiences going electric. You can go see for yourself how electrifying your transportation can be the right fit for you!
