The Wind Project Now Powering Your Home
In July, Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) joined Central Coast Community Energy to celebrate startup of the newly repowered ‘Mountain View’ Wind Project developed by The AES Corporation. This project, located in Riverside County, CA, will provide 257 Gigawatt hours (GWh) of clean energy per year - enough electricity to power about 40,000 homes.
Wind repowering means dismantling and refurbishing existing wind turbines, or commissioning new ones in their place. The project is an example of how dramatic efficiency improvements in wind turbines are instrumental in our journey to decarbonization. The addition of this expanded long-term wind resource increases the reliability and diversity of the power mix SVCE customers receive and supports continued renewable production for California. To learn more about the project benefits, read the press release.

Receive up to $750 Cash Back on Your Induction Cooktop Upgrade
Replace your natural gas stove with an induction cooktop for energy savings and get cash back from BayREN. To receive up to $750 cash back, your new induction electric range (no hybrid) or cooktop must replace an existing natural gas range or cooktop. Rebates are available on a first-come, first-served basis to qualifying Bay Area residents with homes built in 2016 or earlier.
Why should I upgrade?
Emissions from gas ranges can result in unsafe levels of air toxins in homes. At the same time, gas ranges contribute to climate change by burning or leaking methane, a powerful greenhouse gas.
Induction cooktops use clean electricity – no nasty toxins in your kitchen. Induction uses electromagnets to heat your pots and pans directly, and by doing so they are faster, safer, and more energy efficient than gas stoves or traditional electric-resistance stoves. They lower health risks, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and are easier to clean.
Find out if you are eligible for an induction cooktop upgrade and how to apply at bayren.org/induction-cooktops.
