$20,000 in Scholarships Available Through the Empower SV Film Competition
Do you know a high school student interested in what a clean energy future will look like? Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) is providing $20,000 in scholarships for students as part of our second Empower Silicon Valley Youth Short-Film Competition!
Local youth are invited to explore what a climate-friendly, clean energy world will look like through short-film. No film experience or prior climate change knowledge necessary.
The competition will start with a kickoff event on March 10 and run until May 2, giving students two months to create and submit their films. Learn more about the competition and sign up for the kickoff webinar at SVCleanEnergy.org/Empower-SV.
Feel free to direct questions to the SVCE Community Outreach Fellow Matt Lundy at matthew.lundy@svcleanenergy.org.

Switching from a gas-powered car to an EV is one of the biggest actions an individual can take to reduce carbon emissions. We want to help you understand your charging options.
Charging on the road
- There are over 2,000 public charging stations around Santa Clara County, use the EV Assistant to find public charging near you.
Charging at home
- There are multiple ways to charge your EV at home. For information on the types of at-home charging (L1 and L2) check out this Charging at Home 101 article.
- You can browse, compare and view ratings for L2 at-home chargers on the Appliances Assistant to find the home EV charger that is right for you.
- Visit svcleanenergy.org/find-contractor for assistance in finding a qualified contractor to do your L2 installation.
- Make the most of your at-home EV charger by using the SVCE GridShift app. GridShift syncs your EV charging with Time-of-Use or EV electricity rates to save you money, and charges when renewable energy is plentiful on the California electric grid. Start smart charging today at www.svcleanenergy.org/gridshift-ev/.

Each year, your city or town and county selects an elected official as its primary representative on the SVCE Board of Directors. Directors attend monthly meetings that are open to the public, and serve on special committees that guide the agency’s priorities, policies and programs.
This year, the SVCE Board of Directors will be chaired by Campbell City Councilmember Liz Gibbons, and Los Altos Hills Mayor George Tyson will serve as the vice chair.
Chair Gibbons is a founding board member of SVCE and served as vice chair in 2021. Chair Gibbons has also served as a director and member of the agency’s Executive Committee since 2016. Vice Chair Tyson was an alternate director on the SVCE Board of Directors in 2019 and served as a director in 2020 and 2021. He also served on the audit and executive committees.
More information on the valuable skills they contribute to SVCE can be found in this announcement.
