Soup season is here, but indoor air pollution doesn’t have to be! Swap your gas stove for an electric induction cooktop this season. Induction cooktops are a safer alternative, provide a more controlled cooking experience and can boil water in half the time. These are not the old electric stovetops that light up bright red coils, they are highly-responsive, magnetic cooktops that professional chefs are starting to favor.
Carbon monoxide, formaldehyde, and other toxic emissions are released into your home when cooking with gas, but you don’t have to give up your favorite stovetop meal to eliminate that risk; you can switch to an electric induction stove instead.
Try it out yourself! Right now you can receive a $50 rebate on an induction cooktop through the Appliances Assistant. Purchase a single, portable burner to use while preparing your holiday meals and experience the benefits of induction cooking first-hand.
If you are ready to install an induction stovetop you can receive the $50 rebate when purchasing an eligible model from the Appliances Assistant.
Opt for clean cooking this holiday season!

In early November, Leeward Renewable Energy, Central Coast Community Energy and SVCE announced the start of construction on the Rabbitbrush project, a 100 megawatt (MW) solar facility with a 20 MW battery energy storage system.
When fully operational, Rabbitbrush will generate enough clean solar energy to serve the needs of nearly 40,000 homes per year, displacing approximately 48,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) annually—the equivalent of taking 10,500 cars with internal combustion engines off the road. The Rabbitbrush project is estimated to begin providing power to the grid in summer 2022.
To date, SVCE has committed more than $1.6 billion to renewable energy projects, view all 13 projects at www.svcleanenergy.org/power-sources.
