Each year, your city or town and county selects someone to represent it on the Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) Board of Directors. Directors attend monthly meetings that are open to the public, as well as serve on special committees to instruct SVCE on policies and programs to guide the agency’s priorities.
This year the SVCE Board of Directors will be chaired by Mountain View City Councilmember Margaret Abe-Koga; with Campbell Mayor Liz Gibbons serving as the vice chair. Chair Abe-Koga has served on the SVCE Board of Directors since 2017 and previously served as chair in 2019. Vice Chair Gibbons is a founding board member, having served on the SVCE Board of Directors since 2016. More information on the valuable skills they contribute to SVCE can be found in this announcement.
Please join us in welcoming City of Cupertino Councilmember Jon Willey, City of Gilroy Councilmember Zach Hilton, City of Milpitas Councilmember Evelyn Chua, City of Saratoga Councilmember Tina Walia, and City of Sunnyvale Councilmember Gustav Larsson to the SVCE Board of Directors for 2021.
SVCE invites you to visit svcleanenergy.org/board to find out who your representative is!

Are You Considering All-Electric Appliances?
Transitioning your home to run on clean electricity helps improve regional air quality, but it also has immediate benefits for your home and family. Replacing natural gas-powered water heaters, dryers and stovetops improves indoor air quality, and new electric appliances bring added comfort. This Cleantechnica article outlines the additional benefits of reduced operational costs, improved performance, and a lower carbon footprint when replacing gas with clean electricity generated from clean sources.
The article outlines four essential electric technologies for your all-electric home: a heat pump water heater, heat pump furnace/AC, induction cooktop and an electric fireplace. Don’t worry, you aren’t alone on this journey. We have compiled information and resources on eHub to help you make the best decision for your home and lifestyle. Learn about the components of the all-electric home, browse electric appliances, compare efficiency scores, and read user reviews. SVCE is also offering rebates on heat pump water heater installations, and $50 back on induction cooktops!
Some of your neighbors are already utilizing these highly efficient technologies to their benefit. You can read about their experiences on eHub or watch this video to see how a Los Altos resident switched to electric!
