Do you know a high school student interested in climate solutions? Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) is providing $20,000 in scholarships as part of our new youth competition. Youth are invited to explore the topic of local climate resilience in the form of short films. No prior film or climate change knowledge necessary. Each year, your city or town and county selects someone to represent it on the SVCE Board of Directors. Directors attend monthly meetings that are open to the public, as well as serve on special committees to instruct SVCE on policies and programs to guide the agency’s priorities.
This year the SVCE Board of Directors will be chaired by Mountain View City Councilmember Margaret Abe-Koga; with Campbell Mayor Liz Gibbons serving as the vice chair. Chair Abe-Koga has served on the SVCE Board of Directors since 2017 and previously served as chair in 2019. Vice Chair Gibbons is a founding board member, having served on the SVCE Board of Directors since 2016. More information on the valuable skills they contribute to SVCE can be found in this announcement.
Please join us in welcoming City of Cupertino Councilmember Jon Willey, City of Gilroy Councilmember Zach Hilton, City of Milpitas Councilmember Evelyn Chua, City of Saratoga Councilmember Tina Walia, and City of Sunnyvale Councilmember Gustav Larsson to the SVCE Board of Directors for 2021.

 Interest in electric vehicles (EVs) has soared to new heights as clean energy emerges as a top priority for rebuilding our economy and combating the climate crisis. Join us on March 4 at noon for Acterra's presentation covering all the basics of EV ownership, including the benefits of EVs, rebates (up to $11,000), current makes/models, and what's in store for the future. Your questions will be answered in real-time by local EV experts via the chat. Breakout rooms will allow you to learn more about specific models. This is the year to "go EV." We'll show you how!

SVCE has joined a state program to provide bill relief to qualifying customers. The program will reduce unpaid balances on electricity bills that have accrued due to the pandemic. The Arrearage Management Plans Program is a 12-month program that will provide up to $8,000 of bill forgiveness to each eligible customer.
To be eligible, customers must:
- Be enrolled in the California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE) or Family Electric Rate Assistance (FERA) bill assistance programs
- Have been a PG&E electric distribution customer for a minimum of six months
- Made at least one, on-time payment within 24 months
- Owe at least $500 on their electricity bill for more than 90 days
Eligible customers can apply through PG&E at pge.com/amp.
