If the record-breaking California wildfires and heat waves did not give it away, 2020 has just been reported as the hottest year on record by NASA. Further, as noted in this recent Mercury News article, the world’s seven warmest years (since 1880 when modern temperature recording began) have been from 2014 to present.
California continues to combat these effects and prevent future warming by prioritizing energy efficiency and development of clean energy resources such as solar and wind. And it’s working. Since 2004, California emissions have fallen by 14%. With clean energy resources in growing abundance, it is time to take the next step and replace fossil fuels used in transportation and buildings with clean electricity.
Using clean electricity to power your vehicle and home helps combat climate change. In addition, electric vehicles and home appliances offer compelling features, personalization, and cost savings. Community Impacts & Savings from Clean Energy
Community members gathered at SVCE event table in 2019.
2020 was a true testament to the resiliency of our local communities. Through it all, communities have continued to lower their carbon footprints and save money with energy. In 2020, SVCE’s member communities avoided 766 million pounds of greenhouse gas emissions, a reduction of 24% compared to 2015. Additionally, SVCE customers saved $17 million on electricity bills last year.
Since SVCE began service in 2017, residential and business customers have saved a total of $69 million on their electricity bills. SVCE and its member communities thank you for your dedication in advancing a cleaner, safer, and more affordable energy future - for you and your community.
