By receiving clean electricity, you are making a difference. This year SVCE surpassed $1 billion invested in new renewable projects. Yellow Pine is one of seven renewable energy projects coming online between 2021 and 2023. Yellow Pine will be located in Clark County, Nevada and the site will host solar and battery storage with a 4-hour discharge period. The project is one of five solar-plus-storage projects SVCE has contracted. The combination of solar generation with battery storage increases resiliency because the energy from the batteries provides energy into the evening, when solar generation is slowing down.
SVCE is continuing to strengthen grid resiliency by contracting for solar projects that are paired with energy storage. Beyond energy generation, SVCE has also joined seven other community choice electricity providers to solicit a 500 MW, long-duration (minimum 8-hour discharge period) battery storage project. Read more about the project here: The First Major Long-Duration Storage Procurement Has Arrived.
