Purple Heart Day

Approximately 2 million service members have received Purple Hearts, showing that they are willing to give the ultimate sacrifice in defending our country. 

My father fought in the South Vietnamese Army alongside American GI’s and my brother, a proud US Marine, fought in Iraq. I am blessed that neither was injured or killed in battle, which gives me an understanding of the gravity of worrying every day for loved ones to return home after fighting for our country. 

I have always been a strong advocate for our military. When I served as an Orange County Supervisor in 2013, I led the effort to dedicate the County of Orange as a Purple Heart County and every city here as a Purple Heart City.

My prayers are with all the injured soldiers and their families. Thank you for your service, we will never forget your sacrifice.
