Dear Friends and Neighbors:
I’m pleased to invite you to join me for an important community meeting regarding the proposed construction of a Coordinated Adult Reentry Center at 3030 N. Hesperian Way in Santa Ana, the former site of the Youth Guidance Center.
This Thursday, I will join representatives from the City of Santa Ana for a community discussion about the proposal. I will also share my position that funding for this project should be paused until meaningful community outreach is conducted and our residents have an opportunity to be heard.
Your Voice Should Be Part of the Decision
The purpose of this meeting is to hear directly from residents, neighbors, and stakeholders regarding whether 3030 N. Hesperian Way is an appropriate location for a Coordinated Adult Reentry Center.
At its June 9 meeting, the Orange County Board of Supervisors received the proposed Fiscal Year 2026-27 County budget. Included in that proposal is more than $20 million to fund development of a Coordinated Adult Reentry Center at the former Youth Guidance Center site.
During that meeting, I opposed moving forward with funding because the necessary community outreach had not yet occurred. Our community understands the importance of programs and services that help formerly incarcerated individuals successfully reintegrate into society and reduce recidivism. At the same time, our community deserves an opportunity to have their voices heard on whether this is the right location for this facility.
So, your participation is very important to me, especially because the Board of Supervisors is currently scheduled to consider final adoption of the budget on June 23.

I Hope You'll Join Us
I hope you will join us for this important conversation and help ensure that community voices are heard before the Board's final budget hearing on June 23. Thank you in advance for your time, participation, and perspective.
