Fighting to hold Andrew Do accountable for his crimes

The Board of Supervisors voted 4-1 to ask the Department of Justice to review a bribery plea deal struck last year allowing disgraced former Supervisor Andrew Do to serve up to 5 years in prison. He will likely be released earlier under this current plan.

Do was allowed to plead guilty without an indictment on a single count of conspiracy to commit bribery of more than $10 million in federal COVID relief funds that were funneled to a non-profit affiliated with his daughter, Rhiannon Do. Most of the money was supposed to feed needy seniors in the First District.

He is scheduled to be sentenced June 9.

A federal prosecutor who looks at the totality of the evidence will hopefully come to the same conclusion as the general public: Do is getting a special deal because he was a public official. I want to see justice in this case. Five years in prison is not punishment, he will be out of custody in the blink of an eye.

The Board directed County Counsel to draft a letter to the U.S. Attorney advocating our position. We are the victims. We are also the voice of thousands of constituents who are also the victims. More investigation is needed because the plea deal does not reflect all of Do’s crimes.

I participated in a lively panel discussion with Supervisor Vincent Sarmiento, focused on restoring integrity to government. Thank you to OC Forum for hosting this great event.

Our annual Healthcare Expo was a big success

We had a great turnout of 800 people for our Healthcare/Social Services Expo featuring 25 vendors! A big thank you to the doctors, staff and volunteers which included free wellness, dental and optometry services.

Vietnam War Veteran's Day

Thank you to the brave servicemen who gave of themselves to fight for liberty and justice in the Vietnam War. I would not be here today without your sacrifice. We honored these heroes today at the Vietnam War Veterans Day ceremony in Westminster.

Remembering Ed Arnold

For as long as I can remember, Ed Arnold was delivering the news on local television. He gave us great reports without any bias. His dedication, contributions, devotions, and love for the betterment of the City of Fountain Valley and Orange County children are unmatched. His passing is truly a sad time for our community and for journalism.

Boys and Girls Club turns 50

It was an honor to recognize the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Orange County at their 50th anniversary. With 6 club & school partner sites + over 15,000 Cypress youth served, I could not be more excited to see what the next 50 years have in store.

Learning the construction trade

Team Janet joined the Construction Industry Education Foundation for their annual SoCal Design Build competition in Huntington Beach. This was an opportunity for over 600 high schoolers to learn about a career that works for them and builds a future for all of us.
