Cindy Tran-Chang
Policy Advisor / Community Events Manager
This week, I attended a Human Affairs Resources Fair for elderly adults, hosted by the City of San Clemente’s Human Affairs Committee. Over 20 organizations were present, sharing information and resources on general health, mental health, substance use, affordable housing, senior services, crisis services, legal and veteran’s services. I talked to several visitors to learn about what issues were important to them in San Clemente and shared the Supervisor’s Year in Review pamphlet. I also talked to some of the organizations to gain ideas for our Senior Summit later on in the Fall.
Supervisor Foley and I met with the Office on Aging this week to begin planning the Senior Summit event, tentatively planned for October 2023. We are excited to host the event this year and will share updates as we progress…
We want to work with local businesses. Submit your contact here if your business provides services or supplies in District 5 so we can contract with you.

Update from Providence Mission Hospital
As of May 10, 2023, we will relocate inpatient and outpatient GI (gastrointestinal) services from Providence Mission Hospital Laguna Beach to our Mission Viejo campus. Our Mission Viejo GI lab is located at 27799 Medical Center Road in the Mission Health Center/Leonard Cancer Institute. This transition will allow us to enhance our GI program by centralizing our specialists and technology in a single location.
All impacted caregivers who work at the Laguna Beach location will be relocated to the Mission Viejo campus and will continue to provide GI services. Patients who receive care at the Laguna Beach location will also be transferred to our Mission Viejo campus.
We are confident that the relocation of our GI services will be a smooth transition that allows us to continue proudly serving as South Orange County’s safety-net hospital.

In our ongoing efforts to keep the shelters clear, starting this year, OCAC will waive fees for adult dogs over 25 pounds adopted by residents across Orange County! The normal adoption fee for adult dogs ranges from $100 - $200. Help our furry friends at the shelter find loving homes.
Pet of the Week
Meet Hershey, our Pet of the Week! Hershey arrived at our shelter at the beginning of 2023 and we immediately fell in love with his energetic and cheerful personality! At the age of five, Hershey is a silly boy who loves to roll around in the grass, run around the play yard, and hang out with his human friends for lots of love. This handsome boy is rarely ever seen without a smile, and he knows how to sit like a gentleman, waiting patiently for a treat! Being an active, energetic Labrador Retriever, he would make the best walking, hiking, or running buddy! Hershey is very polite around human adults and children, but he's looking for a home where he will be the only pet.
This joyful boy is ready to find his furr-ever family and play with them and his stuffed animals to his heart’s content! To adopt Hershey, call (714) 935-6848 and mention Animal ID# A1798881.
