Wastewater 101 Graduates pictured with Presenters at the April 23rd Board Meeting
OC San’s Wastewater 101 – Citizens Academy wrapped up its Spring session with a record-breaking 43 graduates. The Academy empowers community members with a better understanding of how wastewater is collected, treated, and recycled—and judging by the enthusiasm of this cohort, the future of water stewardship is in good hands.
The graduates were honored during a ceremony held at the April 23rd OC San Board of Directors Meeting. This cohort is the largest since the program’s inception in 2022. Participants from across Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and even San Diego counties joined us to take a deep dive into the world of wastewater—and they didn’t shy away from asking great questions and getting involved.
This year’s graduates hailed from various cities including Santa Ana, Brea, Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley, and many more from outside our service area. Over four weeks, participants learned about OC San’s role in protecting public health and the environment, met with staff from across departments, and enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of our facilities.
With this level in interest, we encourage you to visit ocsan.gov/wastewater101 to learn more about the Academy and register for the fall session.
