I am taking U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary (HHS) Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to court for unlawfully removing seven vaccines from the list of universally recommended childhood vaccines despite the overwhelming evidence supporting their safety and effectiveness — and despite having no new scientific evidence to back up their dangerous decision.
RFK Jr. and his CDC are flouting decades of scientific research, ignoring credible medical experts, and threatening to strain state resources and make America’s children sicker.
While RFK Jr. is entitled to his own personal opinions, he isn’t entitled to use his opinions as the basis for breaking the law and endangering our children. The fact is, vaccines save lives, reduce widespread illnesses, protect other children and vulnerable people, prevent hospital visits, and save our states money. These vaccines currently remain available, and I will continue to fight to make sure that does not change.
Your AG,
Rob

Suing Trump Administration for Unlawful Overhaul to Childhood Vaccine Schedule
In partnership with Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes, I'm co-leading the lawsuit against the Trump Administration over unprecedented changes recently made to the childhood immunization schedule. Specifically, the changes stripped seven childhood vaccines — those protecting against rotavirus, meningococcal disease, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, influenza, COVID-19, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) — of their universally recommended status. Filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, our complaint also challenges Secretary Kennedy's unlawful replacement of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, the expert federal panel that has guided U.S. vaccine policy for decades. Public health decisions must remain grounded in truth and facts. My fellow attorneys general and I cannot sit on the sidelines while lives are put at risk and our laws are broken.

Holding a Redding Property Management Company Accountable
Every Californian, in every corner of our state, deserves housing that is safe, stable, and reliable. This week, in partnership with Shasta County District Attorney Stephanie Bridgett, I announced a settlement with a Redding property management company, Property Upsurge, and its property-owning affiliates. The settlement resolves allegations that Property Upsurge, which manages approximately 1,300 rental units across Northern California, improperly issued eviction notices, imposed rent increases above what state law allows, and charged higher rents to tenants using Section 8 vouchers, among other egregious conduct in violation of California law. As part of the settlement, the company must pay $550,000 to tenants and provide an additional $200,000 in debt relief, pay $50,000 in civil penalties, and take specific actions to ensure compliance with injunctive terms.

Exposing Trump’s Attempts to “Take Over” Federal Elections and Detailing How AGs are Fighting Back
This week, I participated as a panelist in a spotlight forum titled “Protecting the Future of American Democracy: Stopping the Trump Administration’s Attempted ‘Takeover’ of Elections.” The forum was convened in Washington D.C. by U.S. Senator Alex Padilla (D-Calif.), Ranking Member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Rules and Administration and California’s former Secretary of State. As I made clear in my opening remarks and answers, no President in recent history has been so hostile to free and fair elections. President Trump has tried to take control of elections, spread misinformation, and threatened folks working to keep elections secure. We won’t tolerate efforts to interfere with our elections or frighten Americans away from the ballot box. We’re monitoring closely, preparing, and we’re ready to act — again.

Celebrating U.S. Supreme Court’s Denial of Huntington Beach’s Challenge to State Housing Laws
In 2023, the City of Huntington Beach filed a federal lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of certain California housing laws. After losing in the lower courts, the City decided to take its case to the highest court in the country — and lost again. This week, the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear the City's case, making clear that it must comply with state housing laws. After years of meritless resistance that has wasted taxpayer dollars, Huntington Beach can no longer claim that the U.S. Constitution is on its side. It is not. We look forward to holding the City fully accountable in state court, where we recently secured a decision requiring it to remedy its violations and significantly limiting its local control until it does so.

Making Your Life Affordable
From groceries to gas, costs seem to be rising and rising ... and rising. California DOJ has your back and is committed to protecting California families grappling with the high cost of living. In this segment, find some of the ways California DOJ is protecting Californians — and their wallets.
What We Did: This week, my office exposed Amazon's price-fixing scheme and asked a court to immediately block this illegal conduct. In 2022, my office filed a lawsuit against the retail giant for entering into anticompetitive agreements that drive up costs for consumers, and now we have more evidence painting a clearer picture of this scheme.
What this Means to You: Amazon doesn’t have cheap prices because of its good business sense. Amazon’s ‘cheap’ prices are the result of illegal actions that drove up prices for consumers. While Californians up and down the state face a crisis of affordability, Amazon has blatantly worked to ensure people cannot find cheaper products out in the marketplace, all the while raking in unlawful profits from consumers who genuinely thought they were getting the best deal.
In California, we welcome companies that succeed by offering better prices and better service. What we won't tolerate are greedy corporations intentionally increasing prices in the marketplace to get richer and richer off the backs of consumers who are already struggling with affordability. While most of the evidence in our filing is redacted from the public, my office is working hard to ensure it comes to light. Consumers and small businesses deserve justice.

Keeping You Safe
We are working 24/7 to keep you safe through California DOJ's Division of Law Enforcement. Our Special Agents work daily to enhance public safety in California by conducting criminal investigations, providing regulatory oversight, and performing forensic analysis to support criminal proceedings. Our mission is to reduce vulnerability and protect residents and visitors across California.
The Division is organized into four bureaus.
- The Bureau of Firearms regulates and enforces laws related to the manufacture, sale, ownership, transfer, and safety of firearms while providing expertise to law enforcement and the public.
- The Bureau of Forensic Services collects and analyzes physical evidence, including DNA, toxicology, firearms, fingerprints, trace evidence, and bloodstain patterns.
- The Bureau of Gambling Control works with the California Gambling Control Commission to ensure gambling is conducted legally and free from criminal influence.
- The Bureau of Investigation, whose Special Agents conduct complex, multi-jurisdictional investigations, is responsible for cases involving organized crime, cybercrime, consumer fraud, identity theft, and other matters of statewide importance. This includes combating human trafficking, investigating officer-involved shootings, and addressing the fentanyl crisis.

In celebration of Black History Month, the Office of Community Awareness, Response, and Engagement (CARE) participated in events across the state throughout February to join communities in recognizing the culture, history, and achievements of African Americans.
