As we reflect on President Trump’s second first year in the White House, one thing is abundantly clear: The Trump Administration’s lawlessness is bad for business, bad for workers, bad for families, and bad for our economy.
Sadly, none of Trump’s lawlessness came as a surprise, which is why I was ready from day one to take action and hold him accountable to the law and our Constitution.
In just one year, California DOJ took Trump to court 54 times and won, repeatedly. Thanks to our lawsuits, we:
➡️ Returned approximately $188 billion to California children, seniors, workers, schools, and communities
➡️ Ended the unlawful federalization of California’s National Guard
➡️ Defended birthright citizenship
➡️ Blocked sweeping voter restrictions
➡️ And more
If Trump wants to stop losing in court, he should stop breaking the law. But you’ve got my word, as long as he’s a repeat offender, he’ll be a repeat loser.
Your Attorney General,
Rob

Marking One Year of Holding Trump Accountable
One year ago this week, President Trump was sworn in for a second time, and every day since then, he has sought to enact a sweeping, and often illegal, effort to remake America. Our work to stop the Trump Administration’s unlawful actions touches every part of Californians’ lives: helping to make sure they can continue to put food on the table, access a quality education, cast their vote, live safely in their communities, and so much more. This is not about political differences. This is about a wholesale attack on California’s people, our values, and our progress. So far, we've filed 55 lawsuits, with one new lawsuit filed this week, to hold the Trump Administration accountable. Across these lawsuits, we've had resounding success, securing 13 final rulings, 35 preliminary injunctions and other emergency relief, and increasingly, appellate orders affirming these rulings. As Attorney General, my job is to uphold the law and stand up for all Californians. I will continue to do so.

Suing to Block Sable Pipeline Permit
In its latest unlawful power grab, the Trump Administration is illegally claiming exclusive federal authority over two of California's onshore pipelines. California has seen first-hand the devastating environmental and public health impacts of coastal oil spills, yet the Trump Administration will stop at nothing to evade state regulation that protects against these very disasters. This week, I filed a lawsuit against the Trump Administration, challenging the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration’s orders that illegally assert exclusive jurisdiction over these California pipelines and allow them to restart operations. The President is once again prioritizing his donors over our people and communities. California will not stand idly by as the President endangers our beautiful coastline and our public health to increase profits for his fossil fuel industry friends.

Major Win: Ensuring Release of EV Charging Infrastructure Funding
After several attempts by the Trump Administration to unlawfully block funding for electric vehicle infrastructure, we have secured a full victory in court, guaranteeing $379 million in funding that will help ensure Californians can access clean, affordable transportation. This funding supports our continued commitment to fight air pollution and climate change, and to empower Californians to innovate and create clean jobs. We will continue to oppose Trump’s unlawful attempts to block Congressionally-appropriated funding and to protect innovation and our environment.

Standing with Minnesota in Challenging Illegal and Militarized Deployments
This week, I led a coalition of 20 attorneys general in filing an amicus brief in support of Minnesota’s lawsuit challenging the Trump Administration’s extraordinary campaign of lawlessness during its deployment of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and U.S. Border Patrol agents to the Twin Cities area of Minneapolis and Saint Paul. These aggressive and militaristic tactics sanctioned by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and carried out by Border Patrol Commander Greg Bovino blatantly disregard well-established policing norms, state sovereignty, and the sanctity of life. I urge the court to block the Trump Administration’s lawless actions. As the President himself has said, Minnesota is just the beginning, and, if left unchecked, he will no doubt go into and threaten the safety, autonomy, and well-being of more states and communities.

Hot Tip: That text offering you a high-paying job out of the blue that sounds too good to be true? It's most likely a scam!
What We Did: My office has alerted Californians to job recruitment scams where bad actors trick consumers into providing money or personal information by posing as employers or recruiters.
What This Means to You: According to the Federal Trade Commission, losses from these types of scams are growing and have nearly tripled from 2020 to 2024, with consumers losing $501 million in 2024. Job recruitment scams prey on Californians' hope for better opportunities and end up leaving victims without a job and out thousands of dollars. As job recruiting scams become more popular, I urge Californians to exercise caution and remember that honest employers will never ask you to pay to get a job or ask you to cash a check for them and return the funds. Spread the word: if a stranger offers you a job you didn’t apply for, it’s most likely a scam.
