Happy Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, California! At over 6 million people strong, our state is home to the largest Asian American and Pacific Islander community in the country. This month, we proudly celebrate this diverse community’s lasting impact.
From the workers who built our state’s early railroads to the leaders across industries today, API Americans have played a leading role in writing our California story. As the first Filipino American to serve as our state’s Attorney General, I am proud to be part of this rich history as I fight to protect all Californians. This month and every month, at the California DOJ, we celebrate our diverse communities because we know they make our state stronger.
Warmly,
Rob Bonta
California Attorney General

Successfully Defending State Housing Laws
From Fresno to Fremont, San Diego to San Francisco, Los Angeles to Loomis, families throughout California are struggling to afford the cost of housing. This week we secured a court decision upholding the constitutionality of Senate Bill 10, a critical state housing law. The law helps address California's housing shortage and affordability crisis, providing local governments with an important tool to increase housing supply in their communities. At the California Department of Justice, we’re working day in and day out to defend and enforce state housing laws — and we’re just getting started.

You have our word: we will use the full force of the law and the full authority of our office to protect reproductive rights for all.

Exposing the Truth About the Opioid Crisis
As part of our settlement more than a million documents from one of the country’s most prolific opioid sellers were made public in an important step to expose the truth and prevent a crisis like the opioid epidemic from ever happening again.
