Every year, about 1 in 7 Americans become a victim of crime. In California, we don’t look the other way — we provide a helping hand.
That is why my office is working alongside our partners to support victims and survivors at every stage of the criminal justice and healing process. We help victims and survivors access trauma-informed care, mental health services, victim compensation, and more. To learn more about our efforts, read below or visit the webpage for our Victims' Services Unit here.
As National Crime Victims’ Rights Week comes to a close, my commitment to uplifting and supporting those affected by crime continues.
Warmly,
Rob

Demanding Answers from Big Oil on its Role in Exacerbating Plastic Pollution
In California and across the globe, we are seeing the catastrophic results of the fossil fuel industry’s decades-long campaign of deception. Plastic pollution is seeping into our waterways, poisoning our environment, and blighting our landscapes. Enough is enough. This week I announced that my office will conduct a first-of-its-kind investigation to examine the fossil fuel industry's role in creating and exacerbating the plastics pollution crisis – and what laws, if any, have been broken in the process.

Cracking Down on Organized Retail Theft
This week we secured guilty pleas from two individuals who stole more than $1 million in an organized retail theft scheme operating throughout California. But our work doesn’t stop there. We’re also prosecuting two more suspects alleged to be involved in these crimes. Criminal activity, including brazen criminal activity, will not be tolerated in California. As our state’s chief law enforcement officer, I am committed to holding accountable those who break the law.
