 City to Participate in CdM ‘3rd Thursdays’ Event Oct. 16
The City’s Police, Fire and Library Services departments will take part in the Corona del Mar “3rd Thursdays” event on October 16 from 5 to 8 p.m.
This month’s activities will include pumpkin decorating at the CdM Branch Library, 410 Marigold Ave., and kids and dog costume contests outside the Altman Group offices, judged by NBPD Police Sgt. Steve Oberon and NBFD Battalion Chief Adam Novak.
Additional highlights are a kids’ scavenger hunt and dance party, live band karaoke, laser tag, DJs, restaurant specials, giveaways and more.
The event is organized and supported by Visit Newport Beach and the Corona del Mar Chamber of Commerce to promote local commerce and community engagement.
Beginning Wednesday, October 1, 2025, the City will begin accepting facility reservation applications for Witte Hall.
The state-of-the-art civic auditorium will host a variety of City programs—such as live performances and lectures—and will also be available to the public for private events, meetings, and gatherings. With the anticipated grand opening in 2026, reservation requests will be considered for events up to six months in advance (i.e., requests accepted starting October 1, 2025 for events on or after April 1, 2026), subject to availability.
Designed to foster creativity and connection, the 9,815 square foot venue will have seating for 299, equipped with sophisticated audio & visual technology, including a 11’x19’ LED wall. The adjacent Stahr Courtyard provides an elegant setting for outdoor receptions and social gatherings.

The Newport Beach Public Library’s new Student Art Exhibition celebrates the creativity of young artists and is open to all students in grades pre-K through 12.
Applicants may submit one original work of art, 9"x12", two-dimensional format only, to be displayed on the first floor of the Central Library for a month-long exhibit from January 6 through February 23, 2026.
The call for entries is open October 6 through November 30, 2025.

The Registrar of Voters will begin to mail out vote-by-mail ballots for the upcoming Statewide Special Election on Monday, October 6. Additionally, the City will have two in-person voting sites for the upcoming Statewide Special Election as well as ballot drop boxes that will be available to voters.
Local voting center locations include:
- Marina Park Community Center, 1600 W. Balboa Blvd., will host an 11-day voting center from Saturday, October 25 through November 4. Hours of operation are Saturday, October 25 through Friday, October 31, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday, November 1 through Monday, November 3, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, November 4, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- The Newport Beach Civic Center, 100 Civic Center Dr., will host a 4-day vote center with the following hours of operation: Saturday, November 1 through Monday, November 3, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, November 4 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Ballot Drop Boxes will be open and operational beginning on Monday, October 6 at the following locations:
- Bob Henry Park
- Newport Beach Public Library
- OASIS Senior Center Auxiliary Parking Lot
- Sidewalk - Corner of Avon St & Riverside Ave

Join us for a community meeting to review updated recommendations for the Corona del Mar Commercial Corridor Study on Tuesday, October 7 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the OASIS Senior Center, 801 Narcissus Ave.
Since the August open house, City staff has revised the draft study based on community feedback. This meeting is an opportunity to preview the revised recommendations and share additional input ahead of a City Council Study Session on November 4.

A preview of the draft “Corridor Atlas” a policy guide for the future of the Corona del Mar commercial corridor

Newport Beach residents are invited to bring documents and household electronic waste for free shredding and disposal on Saturday, October 18 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Newport Beach Corporation Yard, 592 Superior Ave. (Please enter the facility from Superior Ave.)
Free bags of compost will be available for pickup while supplies last; up to five 30-lb. bags per car. Residency will be verified; please bring identification.
Residents can bring up to 10 standard file boxes for shredding. Documents can be bound with staples or paper clips.
Acceptable items for shredding include:
- Bank and financial statements
- Credit card statements or pre-approved credit card offers
- Old IRS tax forms, checks or bills
- Old credit cards & plastic/paper membership cards
- Junk mail, of any size and color
The shredder cannot accommodate x-rays or larger plastic items such as binders. Material is shredded on site.
Acceptable items for e-waste disposal include:
- Computers
- Computer monitors
- Keyboards
- Televisions
- Printers
- DVD players
- Cell phones
- Other small electronic devices
No other household hazardous waste will be accepted. No batteries or medical waste please.
