The City of Newport Beach is committed to ensuring a safe and family-friendly July 4th holiday, with fun activities, celebrations and enhanced public safety measures.
There will be a number of community-oriented activities in Newport Beach this Fourth of July, including the:

13th Annual Fourth of July is for Families - Newport Peninsula Bike Parade and Community Festival The City is once again hosting the annual Newport Peninsula Bike Parade and Community Festival on July 4. The parade will begin at 9 a.m. at Balboa Blvd. and 36th Street and will head down Balboa Blvd. to Channel Place Park for a free festival that includes carnival games, arts and crafts, music and food for purchase. The festival will run from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. For more information on this event, contact the Recreation and Senior Services Department at 949-644-3151.

Mariners Bike Parade The Mariners community is organizing a parade down Mariners Drive starting at 10:30 a.m.

Old Glory Boat Parade The annual Old Glory Boat Parade, sponsored by the American Legion Yacht Club, will be held in Newport Harbor on July 4 beginning at 1 p.m. Boats will be decorated in patriotic red, white and blue. Fourth of July Coastal Flyover The Condor Squadron Officer’s and Airmen’s Association, a non-profit organization founded by a group of WWII fighter pilots, will fly AT-6's over Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, Dana Point and San Clemente on July 4. They will begin over Huntington Beach and expect to fly over Newport Beach between 5:35 p.m. - 5:40 p.m.

Fireworks Extravaganza The City is co-sponsoring a Fireworks Extravaganza with the Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort, 1131 Back Bay Drive. The fireworks show will begin at 9 p.m. on July 4. Newport Beach residents can walk into the evening fireworks show for free (please bring photo ID). Newport Dunes has a full day of activities, food and music planned.
As you celebrate, please keep in mind:
- Fireworks of all types are illegal in Newport Beach. To report the illegal use of fireworks, call the Police Department's non-emergency line at 949-644-3717 only if you know the exact location.
- Due to the large crowds that come to Newport Beach to celebrate the holiday, please remember to observe all posted traffic control and give way to pedestrians and bicyclists. Traffic entering the Balboa Peninsula is heavily congested on the holiday, and some roads will be closed. If you are inviting visitors to this area, please advise them to arrive early in the day to find legal parking.
- A Safety Enhancement Zone will be in effect in the area bounded by the Pacific Ocean on the south, 32nd Street and Newport Boulevard on the east, W. Coast Highway on the north, and 54th Street on the west. The Safety Enhancement Zone designation is effective from 12:01 a.m. on July 4 to 3 a.m. on July 5. Fines within this area are triple the normal amount during this time frame and can be up to $3,000. The City sent a letter to the residents and property owners in the Safety Enhancement Zone explaining the regulations.
- Loud and raucous parties that require a police response could result in a citation or arrest for those present and fines for both property owners and tenants. Fines in the Safety Enhancement Zone are tripled on the Fourth of July, and short-term lodging permits (for vacation rentals) can be temporarily revoked for up to 60 days.

The Newport Beach Police Department will be providing traffic and safety information to the public this July 4 through the Newport Notified emergency alert system.
If you would like to receive traffic and safety alerts related only to July 4, please text NBJULY4 to 65513.
To sign up for ongoing notifications, visit the Newport Notified subscriber page.
Subscribers can receive notifications about issues impacting public safety such as traffic advisories, crime alerts and other community updates. The system is also used for emergency notifications related to power outages, evacuations, tsunamis and other hazards where public safety is at risk.

The public is invited to the Newport Beach Art Exhibition and Sculpture Dedication Ceremony on Saturday, June 29 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Civic Center, 100 Civic Center Dr.
Mingle with the exhibiting artists, participate in children's activities, and enjoy an afternoon of fine art, music, food and fun. The event will include a dedication ceremony for the newest sculptures in the rotating Civic Center Park sculpture exhibition.
Artwork will be available for purchase. Admission and parking are free.

The Balboa Peninsula Trolley is a free service to get you moving around the Peninsula easily, without having to pay for parking or finding a place to park.
The trolley operates on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. during the summer and will be in service during the summer's major holidays, including July 4.

 Bring your family and friends to Marina Park and enjoy a screening of the animated movie "Kung Fu Panda 4" on Friday, July 12. The event begins at 7 p.m.; showtime is at sunset.
There will be fun activities, free popcorn, and food available for purchase. Remember to bring a chair and blanket for comfortable seating during the movie.

The hot days of summer have finally arrived! If you feel like cooling off on the water, visit the Marina Park Sailing and Boating Center.
The Center offers drop-in rentals of single and double kayaks, as well as stand-up paddleboards. To schedule a group rental, please call ahead to 949-270-8160.
 The Sailing and Boating Center also provides public access to Newport Harbor with its large fleet of sailboats for rent.
If a sailor has learned to sail in City classes or comes with previous experience, they can rent J22 keelboats or 16-foot RS Quest dinghies through the City’s Sail Pass program.
All sailors must be at least 18 years of age to participate.

The Friends of the Library will host a large sale of art books on Saturday, June 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Central Library, 1000 Avocado Ave. Prices start at just $2.

The City recently installed a new swing set in West Newport Park, located at Seashore Drive and Prospect Street.
The new double-bay swing set includes bucket swings for ages 2-5 and belt swings for ages 5-12.
West Newport Park is one of 30 parks in the City that provides public playground equipment. Click here for a list of all City parks with playgrounds.

It's time to break out the sunscreen and head to the pool!
Summer has officially kicked off at Newport Harbor High School and the Marian Bergeson Aquatic Center at Corona del Mar High School, with a full lineup of group and private swim lessons for children (starting as young as 3 months), and additional lap swim hours for adults.

 The Be Well mobile crisis response team operates in Newport Beach 12 hours a day, 7 days a week to respond to mental and behavioral health crises. The mobile unit is staffed with mental health specialists and works closely with the City’s police and fire departments.
This week, the Be Well team:
- Transported three people to the Costa Mesa Bridge Shelter.
- Transported three people to crisis stabilization units for treatment.
- Transported three people to the Be Well sobering station.
- Transported six people to homeless service providers.
- Transported a person home to family after he experienced a mental health crisis.
- Transported a person to a train station to return home.
The mobile crisis team is dispatched through the Newport Beach Police Department. To request service, dial 911 or call the Police Department's non-emergency line at 949-644-3717.

 This week, the City’s homeless outreach and response teams:
- Placed a person into permanent housing after experiencing street-level homelessness for 34 years. Trellis International and the City of Costa Mesa staff collaborated to furnish his new home.
- Placed a person into recuperative care.
- Continued to shelter people: 25 people who had been experiencing homelessness in Newport Beach are sheltered in the Costa Mesa Bridge Shelter.
