Bay Area Housing Finance Authority (BAHFA) Releases First Eviction Study Reports
BAHFA commissioned the Bay Area Eviction Study to better understand the current eviction landscape across the region as part of its mandate to advance affordable housing across production, preservation and protection (the “3 Ps”). The findings are organized into multiple regional and local reports and an interactive data tool — along with recordings of two recent overview webinars — are available on the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) website.

On June 30, Governor Gavin Newsom signed budget trailer Assembly Bill 130 and Senate Bill 131 into law, bringing significant reforms to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and a wide range of changes to land use and housing law. These provisions took effect immediately on July 1, 2025. Join ABAG’s Regional Housing Technical Assistance Program to review these new laws on August 12 from 10-11:30 a.m. Attorneys from Goldfarb & Lipman LLP will explain the significant changes and implications and answer questions.
BAHFA Taps Housing Industry Veterans as Strategic Advisors
BAHFA has contracted with Lydia Tan and Carol Galante as advisors to help guide BAHFA through its strategic planning process. Tan and Galante — both with deep experience in housing locally and nationally — will help guide BAHFA’s overall efforts during this critical period of the agency’s development as it regroups after the removal of Regional Measure 4 from the November 2024 ballot.
More than 150 people attended ABAG and MTC's "Accessible Futures: Sharing. Listening. Learning" — a disability-led community conversation on housing, transportation, the environment and other critical issues at the Bay Area Metro Center in June. The two-day conference saw a gathering of the Bay Area's disability community to identify unmet needs and gaps in policies, services and advocacy for persons with disabilities.
Bay Area Regional Energy Network’s Role in Statewide Climate Conversations
In July, BayREN participated in three conferences focused on advancing climate and energy solutions, affirming the role of local government to lead the way in climate action.
From now until December, EYC youth will meet once a month at a new waterfront site to learn about local ecology and environmental history and meet community-based organizations and individuals working to improve the health of the Estuary. They will also meet with their hosts outside of these monthly gatherings for small group mentorship and support with their capstone project.
