As you may know, Caltrans has announced an upcoming call for projects for the Section 5310 Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities Program.
Section 5310 is a funding program that aims to improve the mobility of seniors and individuals with disabilities by removing barriers to transportation services and expanding the transportation mobility options available. This program provides grant funds for capital, mobility management, and operating expenses for:
Public transportation projects planned, designed, and carried out to meet the special needs of seniors and individuals with disabilities when public transportation is insufficient, inappropriate, or unavailable;
Public transportation projects that exceed the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA);
Public transportation projects that improve access to fixed-route service and decrease reliance on complementary paratransit; and
Alternatives to public transportation projects that assist seniors and individuals with disabilities and with transportation.
Caltrans administers the Section 5310 Program. This Call for Projects will be 100% federally matched and is for the federal fiscal years 2020 and 2021. Caltrans has asked interested parties to complete a short survey. The deadline for participation is November 10.
All applications will be submitted through the Caltrans BlackCat Grant Management System. If your agency is certain to apply for funding but does not have an account, please contact Joel Rodriguez at Caltrans for access: Joel.Rodriguez@dot.ca.gov.
More information on this call for projects will be announced soon.
