MTC and ABAG invite the Bay Area public to provide input on the newly released Plan Bay Area 2050 Draft Blueprint, a 30-year regional vision that seeks to create a more affordable, connected, diverse, healthy and vibrant Bay Area for all. The Draft Blueprint is available for public comment through August 10, 2020, and public webinars and telephone town halls are scheduled through August 7. More

MTC   Low-Income Transit Riders Can Start Saving with Clipper START
As Bay Area transit ridership slowly climbs back from the steep decline caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the new Clipper START program allows lower-income adults to receive big fare discounts on select transit services around the region. Clipper START discounts are 50 percent off fares for Muni, Caltrain, and select Golden Gate Transit and Ferry routes, and 20 percent off BART fares. MORE
 
 
MTC   Regional Agencies, Local Governments Take New Steps to Solve Bay Area Housing Problems
MTC and ABAG, in partnership with cities and counties, are stepping up collaborative efforts to meet the Bay Area’s chronic housing affordability challenges. ABAG’s Executive Board has approved an expanded regional housing portfolio, as well as the formation of a new Housing Committee, and the newly formed Bay Area Housing Finance Authority convened for the first time in July. These new efforts aim to develop a comprehensive regional strategy for tackling the housing crisis by transcending city and county boundaries. MORE
 
 
MTC   New Striping Completed as I-880 Express Lanes’ Opening Nears
Workers have completed the striping of new lane configurations on Interstate 880 in Alameda County as MTC and Caltrans gear up for the expected September opening of new Express Lanes between Oakland and the Santa Clara County line. MTC   Toll Authority Issues Statement on Court Ruling Upholding Regional Measure 3
MTC and the Bay Area Toll Authority have issued a statement on the ruling by the state Court of Appeal in which the Court affirmed 2019 findings by the Superior Court for the City and County of San Francisco dismissing challenges to the Bay Area Traffic Relief Plan approved by Bay Area voters in 2018 through Regional Measure 3. MTC   Scott Haggerty Named Transportation Foundation's Person of the Year
The California Transportation Foundation has named MTC Chair Scott Haggerty as its Person of the Year, recognizing the longtime Alameda County Supervisor during its 31st annual Transportation Awards presentation. Haggerty's nomination for the award was jointly sponsored by MTC and the Alameda County Transportation Commission, for which Haggerty served as Chair from 2013 to 2016. MORE
