OVER HALF OF THE BAY AREA’S REGIONAL RAIL VEHICLES HAVE PASSED THEIR USEFUL LIFE THRESHOLD

Over eighty percent of the region’s heavy rail vehicles have surpassed their recommended useful life benchmark, while the majority of commuter rail locomotives and passenger cars have similarly passed this threshold. Performance in this area is expected to improve as BART continues to roll out new heavy rail cars and the ongoing Caltrain modernization process introduces new commuter passenger cars and electric locomotives.
