PRO HOUSING GRANT
The City of Mountain View is seeking federal funding to support our goals to produce and preserve affordable housing.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PRO HOUSING GRANT PROGRAM
The Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) issued a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for the Pathways to Removing Obstacles (PRO) Housing grant program in the amount of $100 million in competitive grant funding for the identification and removal of barriers to affordable housing production and preservation. To apply, the City must submit an application by the October 15 deadline that outlines how the City will invest the funds and the outcomes that will be achieved if awarded.
Eligible activities include:
- Barriers caused by restrictive zoning designations, land use policies, or regulations
- Inefficient or costly procedures
- Deteriorating or inadequate infrastructure
- Lack of neighborhood amenities
- Neighborhood opposition to new or affordable housing
- Challenges to preserving existing housing stock such as increasing threats from natural hazards, redevelopment pressures, or expiration of affordability requirements.
- Other barriers unique to the community
