Hello,
This past Memorial Day, we paused to remember and honor the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. It was a privilege to spend time with so many veterans and military families at the annual Marin County Veterans’ Council ceremony.

The Board of Supervisors will consider approval of the proposed Fiscal Year 2026–28 Budget on Monday, June 8 at 9:00 AM. If needed, budget hearings may be continued and resume on Wednesday, June 10 at 9:00 AM.
The proposed budget, totaling $902.6 million, continues to focus on delivering core services, preparing for economic uncertainty, and investing in community priorities.
The budget is guided by the priorities identified by the Board of Supervisors through the County’s budget workshops and community engagement process:
- Increasing affordable housing and homelessness response
- Building a racially equitable community
- Reducing emissions and building climate resilient communities
- Enhancing disaster and emergency preparedness
- Investing in Marin County’s infrastructure
- Improving community and economic vitality
Our budget must continue to serve and support our most vulnerable residents. The proposed budget continues and expands on the County’s commitment to our immigrant communities. The proposed investments in immigrant legal defense, stabilizing families facing immediate hardship, and partnerships with community-based organizations providing direct services and support are especially meaningful at this moment.
The proposed budget is structurally balanced while continuing to sustain core services, respond to emerging state and federal changes, and invest in community and infrastructure needs. Together, the budget and accompanying department workplans provide a clear framework for moving forward to support our Board priorities (noted above) - and ultimately the community we serve.
For more information about the budget, visit the County’s Budget Reports webpage. Agenda and materials for the June 8 public hearing will be posted on the Board of Supervisors Meetings webpage the Thursday before the meeting.

Upgrades are coming to the Novato Library! The Novato Library will be temporarily closed from June 17 through August 13 as part of the Marin County Library Refresh Project, reopening August 14 with exciting upgrades funded by Measure B.
The refreshed space will feature new carpet, updated furniture, fresh interior paint, expanded teen and children’s areas, improved adult computer and study spaces, reorganized collections, new shelving and display walls, and additional window seating to bring in more natural light.
During the closure, exterior book drops will be unavailable, and due dates will be automatically extended. Please visit our nearby South Novato and Civic Center branches for library services.
The Novato Library is a well-loved branch, and we know the temporary closure may be inconvenient. Your patience is appreciated while a more welcoming, functional, and inspiring library is created for the community.
